OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
CHANGING THE NAME OF RIVERSIDE PARK
TO "OLD FORT COLLINS HERITAGE PARK"
WHEREAS, on November 26, 1985, the Cultural Resources Board requested
of the Parks and Recreation Board that it conceptually support the renaming
of Riverside Park to a name more indicative of the location of the original
fort site; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Board, at their meeting of
November 26, 1985, unanimously voted conceptual support for this request,
and asked the Cultural Resources Board to develop a list of possible names
for consideration; and
WHEREAS, the Cultural Resources Board considered dozens of possible
names and agreed on three names to recommend to the Parks and Recreation
Board for approval as follows: 1) Colonel Collins Heritage Park; 2) Old
Fort Memorial Park; and 3) Collins Park; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Board held a public meeting on
April 23, 1986, to solicit citizen/neighborhood input on the renaming of
Riverside Park; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Board voted to recommend to Council
that the name of Riverside Park be changed to Old Fort Collins Heritage
Park.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the name of Riverside Park be changed to "Old Fort Collins
Heritage Park."
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 20th day of May, A.D. 1986.
