OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROVING A CHANGE ORDER TO THE ENGINEERING
SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH BLACK & VEATCH ENGINEERS
THE DESIGN OF VARIOUS FACILITIES AT
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT NO. 2
WHEREAS, on May 17, 1985 the Council of the City of Fort Collins
authorized the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Black & Veatch
Engineers for the design of various improvements at Wastewater Treatment
Plant No. 2 to treat wastes from the Anheuser-Busch brewery; and
WHEREAS, said engineering services agreement was based on completing
the construction by August 31, 1988; and
WHEREAS, on July 9, 1985 City staff was requested by Anheuser-Busch to
move the completion date for the improvements at Wastewater Treatment Plant
No. 2 from August 31, 1988 to February 1, 1988; and
WHEREAS, an evaluation of the lowest cost option of compressing this
design period from 12 to 8 months and compressing the construction schedule
from 23 to 20 months was conducted by the Kellogg Corporation, a firm
specializing in construction and risk management ; and
WHEREAS, negotiations with the consultant have resulted in a cost of
Three Hundred Forty-Seven Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Dollars
($347,820. ) for the compression of the design and construction schedules ;
and
WHEREAS, this additional cost will be paid by Anheuser-Busch through
supplemental user fees and base formula calculation; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Capital Project Management Control
System City Council must approve all change orders in excess of Fifty
Thousand Dollars ($50,000.). ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute a
change order in the amount of Three Hundred Forty-Sever, Thousand Eight
Hundred and Twenty Dollars ($347,820. ) with Black & Veatch Engineers for
the compression of the design and construction schedule for improvements at
Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 2 for the treatment of Anheuser-Busch
brewery wastes .
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 3rd day of September, A.D. 1985.
