HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-158-09/17/1985-AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS RESOLUTION 85-158 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AND THE CITY OF LOVELAND CONCERNING THE FORT COLLINS/LOVELAND CORRIDOR AREA WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins and the City of Loveland mutually support the concept of the creation of an open space corridor between the cities of Loveland and Fort Collins ; and WHEREAS, Fort Collins and Loveland agree that the Corridor should be purchased at fair market value from the existing property owners and held in perpetuity as public open space with uses to include farming, natural areas, and active and passive recreational activities ; and WHEREAS, Fort Collins and Loveland agree that the residents of both cities will benefit from this open space corridor and any recreational facilities developed thereon; and WHEREAS, Fort Collins intends to purchase this property through a City-wide 1/4 cent sales and use tax for five years ; and WHEREAS, Loveland desires to contribute to the success of the Corridor and contribute funds at a future date to be applied to land acquisition and development of recreational uses in the Corridor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Mayor be, and she hereby is, authorized to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Loveland setting forth the intent of Fort Collins to purchase the Corridor and providing the option for future participation by Loveland.
