HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-160-09/17/1985-AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH CENTENNIAL ENGINEERING FOR THE DESIGN OF RESOLUTION 85-160 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH CENTENNIAL ENGINEERING FOR THE DESIGN OF THE PROSPECT ROAD BRIDGE OVER SPRING CREEK WHEREAS, in the 1984 the City of Fort Collins was awarded a grant from the Federal Bridge Rehabilitation and Replacement Program for the replacement of the Prospect Road bridge over Spring Creek; and WHEREAS, a contract that accepts the federal funds and commits the City's share of the funds has been approved by both the City and the State of Colorado; and WHEREAS, Centennial Engineering was selected through the Capital Project Management Control System to do the design work for the Timberline Road Project which project includes the intersection of Timberline and Prospect and the bridge at Timberline and Spring Creek; and WHEREAS, the Prospect Road Bridge is immediately adjacent to the Timberline & Prospect Intersection Project; and WHEREAS, this project is to be constructed as an extension of the Timberline & Prospect Intersection Project; however, bid separately because federal monies are to be contributed to the project; and WHEREAS, Centennial Engineering is familiar with the Prospect Road Bridge area, has completed the storm drainage report necessary to design the new bridge and has tentatively been approved for the project by the State Department of Highways; and WHEREAS, design of the Prospect Road Bridge should begin as soon as possible to ensure completion and approval by the State Department of Highways by May of 1986 so the project would be bid by July of 1986 for completion by late Fall of 1986; and WHEREAS, Centennial proposes to design the bridge at a total cost of Forty-Seven Thousand Two Hundred Twenty-Six Dollars and Twenty-Six Cents ($47,226.26) ; and WHEREAS, monies have been appropriated and are available to pay the twenty percent (20%) City's matching share for the Prospect Road Bridge; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-66 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins, no professional services agreement in excess of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000) shall be entered into until approved by the City Council in an open Council meeting. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter into a professional services agreement with Centennial Engineering for the I design of the Prospect Road Bridge over Spring Creek, said services to be performed by Centennial Engineering for a sum not to exceed Forty-Seven Thousand Two Hundred and Twenty-Six Dollars and Twenty-Six Cents.
