OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF SUCH FUNDS AS
ARE REASONABLE AND PRUDENT TO ACCOMPLISH THE
DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION RELATIVE TO
ORDINANCES NOS. 203, 204, 205, 206, 208, AND 209 OF 1984
WHICH SUBMIT PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENTS TO A
VOTE OF THE REGISTERED ELECTORS OF THE CITY
WHEREAS, on January 15, 1985, the Council of the City of Fort Collins
adopted Ordinances Nos. 203, 204, 205, 206, 208, and 209 of 1984, which
submit proposed amendments to the Charter of the City of Fort Collins to a
vote of the registered electors of the City of Fort Collins; and
WHEREAS, the Colorado Campaign Reform Act provides that state politi-
cal subdivisions may make contributions or contributions in kind in cam-
paigns involving issues in which they have official concern, which have
previously been defined to include the dissemination of objective and
factual information; and
WHEREAS, the City Council and staff are desirous of complying with the
letter and the spirit of that law; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the City of Fort Collins will be
required to disseminate information regarding Ordinances Nos. 203, 204,
205, 206, 208, and 209 of 1984; and
WHEREAS, these proposed Charter amendments are matters in which the
City has official concern; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins wishes to authorize
the expenditures of funds as may be necessary to effectuate the dissemina-
tion of said information.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Council hereby authorizes the dissemination of information
concerning Ordinances 203, 204, 205, 206, 208, and 209 of 1984, which
submit proposed Charter amendments to a vote of the registered electors of
the City, and the expenditures of such staff time and resources not to
exceed the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1000) to provide objective factual
information pertaining to the same.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 15th day of January, 1985.
