OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
ADOPTING THE LIST OF STREET NAMES TO BE USED
IN NAMING NEW ARTERIAL AND COLLECTOR STREETS
WHEREAS, Ordinance No, q , 1985, establishes the street naming
requirements for the City of For�ollins; and
WHEREAS, this Ordinance requires the adoption by Council of the List
of Street Names to be used by developers in naming new arterial and collec-
tor streets; and
WHEREAS, City staff and local historians have compiled the List of
Street Names attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference,
which list contains the names of prominent Fort Collins citizens ; and
WHEREAS, the Council desires to honor those named citizens by using,
their names in the designation of arterial and collector streets.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the attached List of Street Names be, and it hereby is, the
list of names to be used in the designation of new arterial and collector
streets in the City of Fort Collins.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 5th day of February, A.D. 1985.

STREET NAMING REQUIREMENTS
All new arterial and collector streets are to be named
from the attached list. This list is a collection of names of
citizens that the City would like to honor posthumously. The
list is comprised of citizens who have devoted much time and
effort to the City of Fort Collins either as a former Council
person, a former CSU Faculty member or a former City employee.
Several citizens who were important in the founding of the City
are also included. In general , these individuals represent
distinguished citizens of our community that Council deemed
appropriate to recognize.
This list is adopted by Council and names can only be
added by a resolution of Council . Developers will choose the
names for their unnamed arterials and collectors from this
list. The Community Development Department will maintain the
list and delete names as they are used.

Inga Allison* CSU senior faculty member, early 1900's
D.C. Armitage City Commission of Works, 10-2-13 to 4-10-16 and

Franklin Avery Engineer for agricultural colony; laid out and
platted city
Jay Bouton City Attorney, alderman eight years ; president Board

John H. Cameron Fire Chief, 31 years in water department, turn of
the century
C.R. Carpenter Fire Chief, 10-18-46 to 10-1-47 and 4-13-55 to
6-29-65, killed on duty
