HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-020-02/05/1985-SUPPORTING HOUSE BILL 1133 REGARDING SMOKING IN PUBLIC PLACES RESOLUTION 85-20 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS SUPPORTING HOUSE BILL 1133 REGARDING SMOKING IN PUBLIC PLACES WHEREAS, HB 1133 has been introduced to the Colorado State Legislature by Representative James E. Moore (Lakewood) ; and WHEREAS, HB 1133 declares smoke from tobacco and plant products to be a form of pollution and a matter of public concern; and WHEREAS, HB 1133 would ban smoking in public places and public meet- ings as defined in §25-14-102(2) , C.R.S. and enlarges that definition to include airports, train stations and institutions; and WHEREAS, on November 6, 1984, the citizens of Fort Collins voted to , adopt Ordinance No. 23, 1984 which restricts smoking in public places in the City of Fort Collins; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins wishes to support this legislation which would restrict smoking in public places in the State of Colorado. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Council of the City of Fort Collins strongly supports HB 1133 which would broaden the restrictions on smoking in public places in the State of Colorado as set forth in Article 14 of Title 25 of the Colo- rado State Statutes.
