HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-039-03/19/1985-AUTHORIZING A WAIVER OF THE NORMAL BID PROCEDURE IN THE PROCUREMENT OF A SPERRY 80/MODEL 8 COMPUTER RESOLUTION 85- 39 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING A WAIVER OF THE NORMAL BID PROCEDURE IN THE PROCUREMENT OF A SPERRY 80/MODEL 8 COMPUTER AND EQUIPMENT WHEREAS, the growth and capacity of the current mainframe computer system has been exhausted eliminating the ability to add planned major programs to accommodate the City' s centralized data processing needs; and WHEREAS, staff recommends replacement of the present system with a Sperry System 80/Model 8 computer which will provide the necessary growth and capacity to meet the City' s needs for mainframe computing for the rest of the decade; and WHEREAS, total cost for this system is approximately Three Hundred and Eighty-Five Thousand Dollars ($385,000) , which dollar amount has been negotiated with the Sperry Corporation at a substantial dollar savings of nearly One Hundred and Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($115,000); and WHEREAS, this savings could not be attained from third-party dealers of Sperry equipment; and WHEREAS, Section 2-60 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins provides for the waiver of the normal City bid procedure when such process would result in a substantially higher cost to the City; and WHEREAS, monies are available for the lease/purchase of this equipment over a five year period as a part of the rest of the City' s equipment lease/purchase package. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the normal bid procedure be waived with regard to the procure- ment of a Sperry System 80/Model 8 computer for a total cost of Three Hundred and Eighty-Five Thousand Dollars ($385,000) , said equipment to be lease/financed over a five (5) year period as a part of the rest of the City' s equipment lease/purchase package.
