HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-040-03/19/1985-AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF CBT WATER RESOLUTION 85- 40 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF CBT WATER WHEREAS, the waters of the Colorado Big Thompson project (CBT water) are especially useful to the City of Fort Collins as a supplemental water supply ; and WHEREAS, said CBT waters provide, in dry years, an accelerated per unit water yield ; and WHEREAS, because of the yield allocation policies of the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District with respect to CBT water, these waters are deemed by the Council of the City of Fort Collins to be beneficial , and highly desirable, for the protection of the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City; and WHEREAS, because of various market supply and demand factors, the sale price of CBT water has declined since 1980; and WHEREAS, the present price of CBT water is deemed by the Council to be of such a nature as to merit the City's investigation into the purchase of CBT water within the reasonable limits of the City's ability to finance said purchase from funds presently available in the Water Rights Fund. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the City Manager be, and hereby is, authorized to expend, from the Water Rights Fund not more than $150,000 for the purchase of units of the Colorado Big Thompson project as they become available , provided that such units can be purchased at a cost to the City of no greater than $900 per unit.
