RESOLUTION 86-181
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO
AN AGREEMENT WITH THE FORT COLLINS CONVENTION AND
VISITORS BUREAU
WHEREAS, the promotion of tourism, conventions and cultural/
recreational facilities and activities is of considerable importance to the
economic health of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City has enacted, pursuant to Ordinance No. 20, 1984, a
lodging tax to be used by the City for the purpose of acquiring facilities
and promoting tourism, conventions and other activities which utilize
public accommodations within the City and for the purpose of studying and
reducing the impact of such activities upon the facilities and
infrastructure of the City; and
WHEREAS , Colorado Revised Statute 31 - 15-901 ( 1 ) (B) provides
municipalities with the power to appropriate monies for the purpose of
advertising the business, social and educational advantages, the natural
resources, and the scenic attractions of such municipalities; and
WHEREAS, the Bureau has established a visitor industry, convention,
and cultural/recreational event promotional program; and
WHEREAS, such program would fulfill the purpose of promoting tourism,
conventions, cultural/recreational events and other activities which
utilize public accommodations within the City as set forth in Ordinance No.
20, 1984.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter
into an agreement with the Fort Collins Convention and Visitors Bureau for
the purpose of promoting tourism, conventions and cultural/recreational
events in the City, said agreement to continue for a term of one (1) year
(renewable annually for two additional one year terms) at a cost to the
City of the sum of Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000) for the year 1986; One
Hundred Twenty-Three Thousand One Hundred Sixty Dollars ($123,160) for the
year 1987; 70 % of the Lodging Tax collected in 1987 for the year 1988; and
70 % of the Lodging Tax Collected in 1988 for the year 1989.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 4th day of November, A.D. 986.
