OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
FILLING A VACANCY FOR THE CITY'S APPOINTED DIRECTOR ON THE
PLATTE RIVER POWER AUTHORITY BOARD OF DIRECTORS
WHEREAS, the Platte River Power Authority ("the PRPA") was created by an agreement
between the cities of Fort Collins, Loveland, Longmont, and the Town of Estes Park(the "Organic
Contract" which was amended and restated as of March 31, 1980); and
WHEREAS, under the Organic Contract,the PRPA Board of Directors is comprised of two
members from each of the four member cities, with one such member to be the Mayor of each
municipality (or another member of the municipality's governing board designated by the Mayor)
and the other to be another individual selected by the municipality's governing body for"judgment,
experience, and expertise which make(him/her)particularly qualified to serve as the Director of an
electric utility"; and
WHEREAS, Light & Power General Manager Richard Shannon has served as the City's
representative, in addition to the Mayor or the Mayor's representative, since 1994; and
WHEREAS,Mr. Shannon has resigned from his employment with the City of Fort Collins
effective February 2, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council wishes to appoint an individual to fill the vacancy
created by the resignation of Mr. Shannon.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that Interim Utility Services General Manager Robert Kost be appointed as the City's
appointed representative to the PRPA Board of Directors to fill the vacancy created by the
resignation of Richard Shannon, for a term to run until December 31, 2000, or until such
appointment is changed by the City Council, whichever first occurs.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins held this
20th day of January,A.D. 1998.
