OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND MAYOR PRO TEM TO
RENEGOTIATE CONTRACTS WITH THE CITY
MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore executed contracts with the City
Manager and City Attorney which contain automatic renewal provisions and
establish time frames for performance reviews and decisions about contract
renewal and compensation; and
WHEREAS, the automatic renewal provisions in the contracts, as well as the
time frames and other terms and conditions contained therein, may not best serve
the interests of the City or best facilitate a logical and efficient process for
annually reviewing the performance of the City Manager and City Attorney; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes it to be in the best interests of the City
to review the present contracts of the City Manager and City Attorney in order
to identify any revisions which may be in the best interests of the City and the
affected City employees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem are hereby directed to review with the City
Manager and City Attorney their present contracts of employment and to thereafter
make recommendations to the Council regarding any proposed revisions to the terms
and conditions of such contracts. In performing such review, particular
attention is to be paid to the term of the contracts, the method of renewal , the
time frames and guidelines for reviewing performance and establishing
compensation and the overall consistency of the terms and conditions of the
contracts. The recommendations of the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem should be
submitted to the Council , if possible, no later than December 17, 1991 .
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort
Collins held this 17th day of September, A.D. 1991.
