OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS ELIMINATING
YOUTH FARES ON TRANSFORT
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins operates a transit system for residents
of Fort Collins, Colorado, known as "Transfort" ; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Council of the City of Fort Collins to

encourage transit ridership among young people in the community by eliminating
youth fares on Transfort;
WHEREAS, persons under the age of eighteen have been shown to be more
"transit dependent" than other classes of person and more amenable to accepting
public transit as a viable alternative means of transportation; and
WHEREAS, the increased use of Transfort by youth would substantially reduce
the number of vehicular trips per day that the City would otherwise experience,
thereby resulting in reduced traffic congestion and air pollution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that all fares charged on the City's Transfort transit system for individuals
under the age of eighteen (18) shall be eliminated as of June 9, 1994.
