HomeMy WebLinkAbout1988-033-03/01/1988-AGREEMENT CACHE LA POUDRE RIVER PROGRAM U S GEOLOGICAL SURVEY USGS COOPERATIVE WATER RESOURCES INVES RESOLUTION 88- 33 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL SURVEY FOR THE CITY'S CONTINUED PARTICIPATION IN THE USGS COOPERATIVE WATER RESOURCES INVESTIGATION PROGRAM PROGRAM FOR THE CACHE LA POUDRE RIVER WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins needs river flow and quality data regarding the Cache la Poudre River to provide baseline information for cost-effective water quality and quantity management; and WHEREAS, in 1987, the U.S. Geological Survey conducted a monitoring survey of seven sites on the Poudre River which survey provided this necessary information to the City in a timely and professional manner; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Fort Collins that the City continue to participate in the U.S. Geological Survey Cooperative Water Resources Investigation Program; and WHEREAS, the cost of the City's participation for 1988 is Thirty-one Thousand Four Hundred Seventy-five Dollars ($31,475) , and said funds are budgeted and available in the Water and Sewer Fund; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-66 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins, no professional services agreement in excess of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000) shall be entered into until approved by the City Council in an open meeting. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter into an Agreement with the United States Geological Survey for the City's participation in the U.S. Geological Survey Cooperative Water Resources Investigation Program, for a cost of Thirty-one Thousand Four Hundred Seventy-five Dollars ($31,475) for the year 1988. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager may, if he deems it to be in the best interest of the City, extend the Agreement one (1) additional year and may make modifications to the Agreement, or any extension thereof as necessary to protect the City's interests and safeguard the City's water quality and supply.
