OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO GRANT AN EASEMENT
TO BE USED FOR THE LARIMER COUNTY VETERANS' MEMORIAL
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins has been petitioned by the Larimer
County Veterans' Memorial Project Committee for the use of a parcel of land
located in Edora Park for the construction of a new veterans' memorial ; and
WHEREAS, the current memorial located at Laporte and College Avenues
has become impractical for organized tributes because of lack of parking
and high traffic volume; and
WHEREAS, the Larimer County Veterans' Memorial Project Committee has
determined that a location in Edora Park north of the Edora Pool and Ice
Center would provide the parking availability, accessibility and security
needed for a new memorial ; and
WHEREAS, on December 10, 1986, the Parks and Recreation Board
unanimously approved making a recommendation to the City Council that it
approve the granting of an easement in a portion of Edora Park for the
construction of the memorial ; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fart Collins wishes to continue
the tradition of honoring the men and women of this area who have served in
the armed forces, especially those who gave their lives while in the
service of their country.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to grant an
easement to the Larimer County Veterans' Memorial Project Committee for the
construction of a new veterans' memorial to be located in Edora Park north
of the Edora Pool and Ice Center.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 3rd day of February, A.D. 1987.
