OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE
A CHANGE ORDER TO INCREASE THE CONTRACT AMOUNT
FOR THE 1986 STREET REHABILITATION PROJECT
WHEREAS, it has been the customary practice of the Engineering
Department to increase the number of streets repaired in any year to spend
as much of the funds budgeted for that purpose as possible; and
WHEREAS, this year the low bid for the Street Rehabilitation Project
was One Hundred and Seven Thousand Dollars ($107,000) below the Engineer's
estimate; and
WHEREAS, staff has determined that it would be in the best interest of
the City to take advantage of the good bid prices for 1986 and include the
rehabilitation of Stover Street from Parker and Stuart to Drake, and
Constitution Avenue from Valley Forge to Drake in the 1986 Street
Rehabilitation Project; and
WHEREAS, these streets were scheduled for repair in 1987; and
WHEREAS, a change order for Ninety-Four Thousand Two Hundred Fifty-Six
Dollars and Forty-Five Cents ($94,256.45) to be added to the contract with
Flatiron Paving Company will cover the cost of the additional street
rehabilitation; and
WHEREAS, these monies will- be deducted from the $107,000 surplus in
the Project budget; and
WHEREAS, the Capital Project Management Control System requires all
change orders in excess of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) to be approved
by the City Council .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute a
change order in the amount of Ninety-Four Thousand Two Hundred Fifty-Six
Dollars and Forty-Five Cents ($94,256.45) to the contract with Flatiron
Paving Company for the 1986 Street Rehabilitation Project. This change
order will be for the rehabilitation of Stover Street from Parker and
Stuart to Drake, and Constitution Avenue from Valley Forge to Drake.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 5th day of August, A.D. 86.
