OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
SUPPORTING PASSAGE OF ORDINANCE NO. 106, 1988,
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 13 OF THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS SO AS TO
PROHIBIT DISCRIMINATION ON THE BASIS OF
SEXUAL ORIENTATION IN THE AREAS OF
EMPLOYMENT, HOUSING AND PUBLIC ACCOMMODATION
WHEREAS, on August , 1988, the Council of the City of Fort Collins
(the "Council ") has approved on first reading Ordinance No. 107, 1988,
calling a special municipal election on November 8, 1988, and submitting an
ordinance prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation in
the areas of employment, housing and public accommodation to a vote of the
registered electors of the City; and
WHEREAS, th Council has held three public hearings regarding the
desirability of a�ting such amendment to Chapter 13 of the City Code; and
WHEREAS , Coun0 1 has also received extensive input through
correspondence, telephone calls and personal contacts from citizens of the
City of Fort Collins on T he proposed amendment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE I RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1 . That it is de,r,rable and necessary in the public interest,
in order to ensure equal opport ity and treatment for all citizens, that
the provisions of Chapter 13 of the. Code of the City be amended by the
passage of Ordinance No. 106, 1988,'�so as to prohibit discrimination on the
basis of sexual orientation in the atreas of employment, housing and public
accommodation.
Section 2. That, in the event Ordinance No. 107, 1988 is adopted on
second reading, the voters in the above-referenced election on ,
198 , are hereby encouraged to vote in faOr of passage of Ordinance No.
106, 1988.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of,the Council of the City of
