OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
SUPPORTING THE STATEWIDE MOBILITY PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Council recognizes the need for funds for streets, roads,
and highways, and hereby supports Governor Romer's proposed "Statewide
Mobility Program" ; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of H.B. 1345 is to provide funding for critical
high-priority highway projects as proposed by Governor Romer in the
proposed "Statewide Mobility Program" which was adopted by the state
highway commission on December 17, 1987; and
WHEREAS, H.B. 1345 addresses needs throughout the entire state by
continuing to share with counties and cities a portion of all revenue
sources utilized, thus mitigating an uneven distribution of the state
highway share based upon location of the priority state highway projects;
and
WHEREAS, the projects contained in the proposed "Statewide Mobility
Program" are necessary for insuring the public welfare of the citizens of
this state as well as the continued economic development of Colorado; and
WHEREAS, the Fort Collins Expressway, which would join U.S. 287 and
I-25 north of Fort Collins, is included in the list of high-priority
highway projects contained in the proposed "Statewide Mobility Program" ;
and
WHEREAS, the Fort Collins Expressway has been identified by the North
Front Range Corridor Study as the No. 1 transportation need in the north
front range region; and
WHEREAS, the Expressway would help relieve traffic congestion, reduce
air pollution, improve safety and reduce the risk of a hazardous material
spill in the city of Fort Collins.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Council urges the Colorado General Assembly to adopt the
proposed "Statewide Mobility Program" and maintain an equitable
distribution of all revenue sources among the state highway department,
counties and municipalities.
Passed and adopted at an adjourned meeting of the City Council held
this 12th day of April , A.D. 1988.
