HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991-018-02/05/1991-NAMING ALLEY NORTH COLLEGE OPERA GALLERIA TENNEY COURT RESOLUTION 91- 18 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS NAMING AN ALLEY LOCATED IN DOWNTOWN FORT COLLINS WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins has been petitioned to assign a name to the alley in downtown Fort Collins located behind the building on the west side of the 100 block of North College Avenue; and WHEREAS, as redevelopment of downtown Fort Collins progresses, businesses are expected to locate in shops and offices which will gain access from this alley; and WHEREAS, this alley will be the main pedestrian thoroughfare between public parking areas along Mason Street and shops and offices on College and Mountain Avenues; and WHEREAS, the City has recently received a $28,000 Community Development Block Grant to upgrade the alley to make it safe and pleasant for pedestrians; and WHEREAS, local historians have been consulted and have agreed that the contributions to the City by Mr. R.Q. Tenney fully justify and support the naming of the alley "Tenney Court" ; and WHEREAS, utility companies have no objection to this request and emergency service agencies have indicated that the naming of the City's alleys will facilitate responses to emergency situations; and WHEREAS, the rights of the residents of the City of Fort Collins will not be prejudiced or injured by the assignment of a name to said alley. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the presently unnamed alley in downtown Fort Collins, located generally behind the Opera Galleria and Woolworth Buildings and specifically behind the buildings on the west side of the 100 block of North College Avenue, be, and it hereby is, named "Tenney Court" . Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins this 5th day of February, A.D. 1991 . Mayor ATTEST: r City Clerk
