OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A JOHNSTON 2V3000
STREET SWEEPER FROM MACDONALD EQUIPMENT
WHEREAS,the City Streets Department needs a sweeper with the sweeping capability and
visibility provided by front wheel steering, a large hopper to reduce dumping, and hydrostatic drive
for all mechanical systems; and
WHEREAS,Johnston Company makes the Johnston Model 2V3000 JDSP(the"Sweeper"),
the only sweeper of this type; and
WHEREAS, Macdonald Equipment Company is the only Colorado distributor of Johnston
Products; and
WHEREAS, sufficient funds have been budgeted by Streets to purchase the Sweeper at the
offered price of$76,152; and
WHEREAS, Section 8-160 (d) (1) a. of the Code of the City of Fort Collins authorizes the
Purchasing Agent to negotiate the purchase of supplies and service without utilizing a competitive
process where the Purchasing Agent determines that a particular material or service is available from
only one (1) responsible source; and
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Agent has submitted the requisite justification to the City
Manager for approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has reviewed and approved the justification for this
acquisition; and
WHEREAS, Section 8-160(d) (3) requires approval of this purchasing method by the City
Council for items costing more than Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) prior to acquisition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT COLLINS that the Purchasing Agent is authorized to purchase of a Johnston 2V3000 JDSP
Street Sweeper from Macdonald Equipment in the amount of Seventy-Six Thousand One Hundred
Fifty-Two Dollars ( $76,152).
