HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-026-02/20/1996-JOE WRIGHT RESERVOIR LAND TRADE LEGISLATIVE AGENDA RESOLUTION 95-166 US FOREST SERVICE RESOLUTION 96-26 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AMENDING A PROVISION OF THE CITY'S 1996 LEGISLATIVE AGENDA ADOPTED IN RESOLUTION 95-166 WHEREAS, on December 5, 1995, Fort Collins City Council adopted the City's 1996 Legislative Agenda in Resolution 95-166; and WHEREAS,the 1996 Legislative Agenda is attached as Exhibit"A" to Resolution 95-166; and WHEREAS, on page 19 of the Exhibit "A" to Resolution 95-166 it is stated that the Councils 1996 Legislative Agenda includes support for"...legislation that would facilitate a land trade with the United States Forest Service so that the City can acquire ownership of the land directly beneath Joe Wright Reservoir"; and WHEREAS,upon further consideration of this matter, the Council has determined that it is not in the best interest of the City of Fort Collins to support such legislation and, therefore, it is necessary to amend Resolution 95-166 to delete from page 19 of Exhibit "A" said statement of support concerning such legislation; and WHEREAS, Council now believes that while the proposed land exchange is generally desirable, it should be done in the context of the administrative sale process utilized by the United States Forest Service. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, as follows: Section 1. That the City Council's Resolution 95-166 be amended to delete from page 19 of Exhibit"A"the statement concerning the Council's support for legislation that would facilitate a land trade with the United States Forest Service so that the City can acquire ownership of the land directly beneath the Joe Wright Reservoir. Section 2. That Council continues to support the general concept of the proposed land exchange and, therefore, directs City staff to pursue the proposed land exchange with the United States Forest Service within the context of the Forest Services' administrative sale process.
