HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-167-11/02/1993-PROJECT SCOPE ALTERATIONS SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER RESOLUTION 93-167 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS CONCERNING THE SCOPE OF THE NEW SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER WHEREAS, in Resolution 92-149, the Council of the City of Fort Collins formally gave its support to the interior composition of the new Senior Citizen Center to include a lobby, reception area, lounge, public restrooms, offices, multi-use room, kitchen, classrooms/meeting rooms, media center/library, billiards/pool room, fitness center, jog/walk track, four-lane lap pool and spa, locker rooms, wet craft room and storage; the total to equal approximately 40,000 square feet; and WHEREAS, the estimated cost to construct the new Senior Citizen Center Project was estimated to be $3,913,800, and this money was available in the project budget; and WHEREAS, the City has received bids for the construction of the new Senior Citizen Center Project, and the low bid exceeds the estimated construction costs by the amount of $456,000; and WHEREAS, the Project Team, working with the low bidder, has developed a list of alterations in the scope of the project and is recommending the Council approve these alterations in the scope of the project; and WHEREAS, there are presently sufficient funds in the total project budget to allow the City to enter into the contract for construction of the project; and WHEREAS, the City's Parks and Recreation Board and the Senior Advisory Board recommend that construction of the project not be rebid and should proceed as expeditiously as possible. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Council hereby approves the alterations in scope of the new Senior Citizen Center Project as listed on Exhibit "A," which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference, and authorizes the City to proceed with the construction of this project. ATTEST: ayor City Clerk 11) EXHIBIT A SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER Project Scope Alterations November 2, 1993 1 . Change the pool filtration system from gutter to skimmer system: save $25,000. 2. Change plastic laminate lockers to painted metal : save $18,500. 3. Delete wood ceiling in port cochere and replace with painted surface: save $8,000. 4. Delete skylights in fitness center and pool roof: save $24,700. 5. Delete outdoor pool terrace and re-landscape: save $7,000. 6. Use Colorado native sandstone instead of other: save $43,000. TOTAL: $126,200
