HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-191-12/06/1994-ADA DIAL-A-RIDE DISABILITIES PARATRANSIT PLAN TRANSIT RESOLUTION 94-191 REVISING THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT TRANSIT/PARATRANSIT PLAN TO INCLUDE BOTH PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES AND PERSONS AGE SIXTY AND ABOVE AS ELIGIBLE FOR DIAL-A-RIDE SERVICES WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 92-130, the City Council approved the Americans With Disabilities Act Transition Plan for Transit/Paratransit Services ("the Plan") ; and WHEREAS, Section (e) of the Plan describes the process used to certify individuals with disabilities as ADA paratransit eligible; and WHEREAS, a committee made up of members of the City's Transportation Board, Senior Advisory Board and the Commission on Disability have recommended that Section (e) of the City's Paratransit Plan be amended to state that non-disabled individuals who are sixty years of age and older shall be eligible to use the City's paratransit services; and WHEREAS, if paratransit services need to be limited by the City, the committee recommends and the ADA requires that services for the ADA eligible disabled must be provided before this service is provided to non-disabled individuals age sixty and over. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the following portion of Subsection (e) of the City of Fort Collins Americans With Disabilities Act Transit/Paratransit Plan shall be, and hereby is, amended to read as follows: ADA Paratransit Eligibility Definition. Both ADA eligible disabled individuals and persons sixty years of age and older shall be eligible for the City's paratransit services. If service is limited, trips will be provided to individuals in accordance with the following priority: 1. ADA Eligible Disabled requesting non-subscription service 2. ADA Eligible Disabled requesting subscription service 3.
