OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
URGING THE LARIMER COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
TO RETAIN A DOWNTOWN FORT COLLINS
LOCATION FOR COUNTY COURTHOUSE FACILITIES
WHEREAS, the Larimer County Commissioners are soliciting community input
concerning the location of expanded facilities for the Larimer County Courthouse;
and
WHEREAS, in the past, the Larimer County Commissioners and the Fort Collins
City Council have made strong commitments to retain local government facilities
in the downtown area of Fort Collins; and
WHEREAS, the downtown landowners and merchants of Fort Collins have
responded to this local government commitment by providing and investing in an
infrastructure of restaurants and other services, which has contributed to
maintaining the downtown area as a viable entity; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to make a strong statement that this local
government commitment to downtown Fort Collins should be continued and that
relocating County facilities outside of the downtown area could greatly undermine
the economic viability of the area; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes that the voters of Fort Collins would not
support a decision regarding the location of these facilities that would damage
the downtown area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the City Council 's continuing commitment to the downtown area of Fort
Collins be conveyed to the Larimer County Commissioners to strongly urge the
Commissioners to consider locating expanded facilities for the Larimer County
administrative offices and courts in the downtown area of Fort Collins.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Cit Council herd this 18th
day of October, A.D. 1994.
