HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-051-04/20/1993-BICYCLE CONNECTIONS COLORADO DEPT TRANSPORTATION FAUS FUNDS IGA MG M455-001 MG M455-005 STM 455-006 RESOLUTION 93-51 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THREE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENTS WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ALLOCATING $516,000 OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS FEDERAL-AID URBAN SYSTEMS (FADS) FUNDS AND SURFACE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM (STP) FUNDS TO BUILD TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND TWO BICYCLE PROJECTS WHEREAS, the State Department of Transportation is responsible for the administration of FAUS and STP funds; and WHEREAS, funds have been budgeted, appropriated and otherwise made available in the sum of Five Hundred Sixteen Thousand Dollars ($516,000) for the City of Fort Collins to construct four traffic signals and construct two bicycle projects; and WHEREAS, the City has submitted initial design data to the state setting forth therein preliminary details, information and estimates of the cost of this work, which data has been approved by the State of Colorado; and WHEREAS, the funding for these FAUS and STP projects is one hundred percent (100%) Federal -Aid for direct costs and approximately two percent (2%) local funds for indirect costs; and WHEREAS, the City has estimated that the total cost of the work to be done is at or below the Five Hundred Sixteen Thousand Dollars ($516,000) and is prepared to proceed with the project with the understanding that all costs in excess of Five Hundred Sixteen Thousand Dollars ($516,000) shall be borne by the City; and WHEREAS, the State of Colorado has presented three intergovernmental agreements to be entered into between the State Department of Transportation and the City of Fort Collins for the purpose of accomplishing the aforesaid work; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins does hereby determine that it is in the best interest of the City that said intergovernmental agreements be executed between the City and the State Department of Transportation; and WHEREAS; Article III, Section 16 of the City Charter provides that the Council may enter into Agreements with other governmental bodies for the performance of cooperative or joint activities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Mayor be, and is hereby authorized to enter into three (3) intergovernmental agreements between the City of Fort Collins and the State Department of Transportation of the State of Colorado, for the purpose of constructing four (4) traffic signals and two (2) bicycle projects as described on Exhibit A attached hereto upon the condition that Five Hundred Sixteen Thousand Dollars ($516,000) of the cost of the said projects shall be defrayed utilizing FAUS and STP funds and that any excess cost shall be borne by the City.
