OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
EXPRESSING GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION TO
SUSAN KIRKPATRICK FOR HER CONTRIBUTIONS
TO THE COMMUNITY AS COUNCILMEMBER
AND MAYOR
WHEREAS, Susan Kirkpatrick was appointed by City Council to serve as At-
Large Councilmember and took office on July 15, 1986, and was subsequently
elected as Councilmember At-Large and took office on April 14, 1987; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Kirkpatrick was selected from among the Councilmembers to
serve as Mayor from April 3, 1990 until April 9, 1991; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Kirkpatrick was directly elected as Mayor by the voters of the
City of Fort Collins for a two-year term and served in this capacity from April
9, 1991 until April 13, 1993; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure Susan Kirkpatrick also served as a member of
the Board of Directors of Platte River Power Authority, the Fire Pension Board,
the Poudre Fire Authority Board of Directors, the Convention and Visitor's
Bureau, Challenge Fort Collins, the Block 31 Committee, the Poudre R-1 Liaison
Committee, the Legislative Review Committee, the Health and Safety Committee, the
Ethics Board, the Intergovernmental Committee, the Boards and Commissions Review
Subcommittee, the Colorado Municipal League Executive Board, the Colorado
Municipal League Policy Committee, and the Colorado Women in Municipal Government
Executive Board; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Kirkpatrick also served as a liaison to various Boards and
Commissions and in numerous other assignments during her tenures as Councilmember
and Mayor; and
WHEREAS, this period of time has seen great growth and change in the City,
and Susan Kirkpatrick was called upon to devote substantial time and energy to
the affairs of the City of Fort Collins, especially in her role as directly
elected Mayor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the City expresses its sincere appreciation and gratitude to Susan
Kirkpatrick for her service and contributions to the community as Councilmember
and Mayor.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this 20th
day of April , A.D. 1993.
