OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
CONFIRMING THAT A REVIEW OF OPTIONS FOR AN INTEGRATED
DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE EASTSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD AT LAUREL SCHOOL
IS COMPLETE AND RELEASING CHOICES 95 MONEY TO BE USED FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT OF THE EASTSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD PARK
WHEREAS, on May 17, 1994, the City Council , pursuant to Resolution 94-84,
approved the City's purchase of 1.89 acres of land adjacent to the Laurel School
site to be developed with the Laurel School site into a joint school/park
facility; and
WHEREAS, in Resolution 94-84, the City Council directed City staff to
prepare an Integrated Development Plan for the Eastside Neighborhood at Laurel
School that provides for the coordination of land acquisition and development of
property for public projects in the area which are currently planned or projected
by the City for storm drainage, natural areas, parks, trails, streets and
sidewalks and other City improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City Council also required that the Integrated Development
Plan be presented to the City Council and that City funds for the development of
the Laurel School park site were not to be expended until the plan was presented
to the City Council ; and
WHEREAS, City staff has prepared the Integrated Development Plan for the
Eastside Neighborhood at Laurel School and has presented this plan to the City
Council ; and
WHEREAS,- there presently exists a balance of Five Hundred and Ten Thousand
Two Hundred and Twenty-six Dollars ($510,226) in the Choices 95, Eastside
Neighborhood Park account fund for the Eastside Neighborhood Park, which monies
have previously been appropriated for this Park; and
WHEREAS, City staff is requesting Council 's authorization to expend money
from this- fund- t-o- develop- t-he park site adjacent to theLaurel- School-, including-
the 1 .89 acres purchased by the City adjacent to that school site; and
WHEREAS, the City Council previously directed in Resolution 94-84 that any
funds in the Choices 95, Eastside Neighborhood Park account remaining after the
acquisition and development of the park site adjacent to the Laurel School are
to be used for the acquisition of additional acreage to be developed as parkland
in the Eastside Neighborhood in the immediate vicinity of the Laurel School .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
as follows:
Section 1. That the City Council , having reviewed the Integrated
Development Plan for the Eastside Neighborhood at Laurel School hereby authorizes
City staff to expend funds from the Choices 95, Eastside Neighborhood Park
account for the development of the park site adjacent to the Laurel School ,
including the 1 .89 acres recently purchased by the City at that site.
Section 2. That the Council directs that any money remaining in the
Choices 95, Eastside Neighborhood Park account after development of the Eastside
Neighborhood Park site at the Laurel School shall be used to acquire additional
acreage to be developed as parkland in the Eastside Neighborhood in the immediate
vicinity of the Laurel School .
Section 3. That the City continues to work with the Laurel and Eastside
Neighborhood for an Integrated Development Plan, using all plans and sources of
City dollars identified, with an estimated work schedule for completion.
Section 4. That the Council will consider approval of additional funds
upon review of such Integrated Development Plan.
Section 5. That the Integrated Development Plan for the Eastside
Neighborhood will be presented in a 5 year capital improvement project plan and
considered during the City's 1995 budget process.
