HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-121-08/02/1994-APPOINTMENTS BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY FRONT RANGE COMMUN RESOLUTION 94-121 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS MAKING APPOINTMENTS TO THE MULTICULTURAL COMMISSION WHEREAS, the City Council , by adoption of Resolution 94-60 on April 5, 1994, authorized an intergovernmental agreement between the City of Fort Collins (the "City") , Colorado State University ("CSU") , the Poudre School District R-1 (the "School District"), and the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce (the "Chamber") establishing the Multicultural Commission (the "Commission") ; and WHEREAS, prior to the execution of said Agreement, Council adopted Resolution 94-111 on July 19, 1994 amending the Agreement to include Larimer County (the "County") , Front Range Community College ("Front Range") , and Poudre Valley Hospital ("PVH") as parties to the Agreement; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the Commission is to foster and promote an environment of mutual respect for all people, regardless of individual differences, and to serve as a catalyst, facilitator, leader, and energizing force to move the Fort Collins community toward the attainment of such an environment; and WHEREAS, the Commission is to consist of nineteen (19) voting members to be selected as follows: two (2) persons to be appointed by each of the sponsoring organizations (the City, CSU, the School District, the Chamber, Larimer County, Front Range, and PVH) ; and five (5) at-large members of the community to be appointed by majority vote of the representatives of the sponsoring organizations, which at-large members are to be representative of diverse cultures and points of view; and WHEREAS, the City's Affordable Housing Board, Commission on Disability, Commission on the Status of Women, Community Development Block Grant Commission, Cultural Resources Board, Human Relations Commission, and Senior Advisory Board were each asked to nominate one member from their respective boards and commissions for consideration as a City representative on the Commission; and WHEREAS, five (5) nominations were received and Mayor Azari and Councilmember Kneeland interviewed the nominees and have selected two (2) individuals to recommend to the Council for appointment to the Commission. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the following named persons be, and hereby are, appointed as the City of Fort Collins representatives on the Multicultural Commission: Linda Beardsley Kay Rios Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins held this 2nd day of August, A.D. 1994. or ATTEST: City Clerk
