HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-108-07/05/1994-COLORADO DEPT TRANSPORTATION IGA NORTH COLLEGE BRIDGE POUDRE RIVER US HIGHWAY 287 WEATHER MONITORING RESOLUTION- 94-108 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE INSTALLATION OF WEATHER MONITORING EQUIPMENT ON US HIGHWAY 287 AS PART OF THE NEW STATE HIGHWAY BRIDGE OVER THE POUDRE RIVER ON NORTH COLLEGE AVENUE WHEREAS, the Colorado Department of Transportation has prepared and presented to the City an agreement for the installation, operation and maintenance of weather monitoring equipment on US Highway 287 as part of the new state highway bridge over the Poudre River on North College Avenue; and WHEREAS, construction of the new state highway bridge over the Poudre River on North College Avenue will begin during the summer of 1994; and WHEREAS, the weather monitoring equipment will provide the City with useful information, particularly for snow removal operations; and WHEREAS, the City's portion of the installation cost ($15,000) of said equipment is appropriated and available in the Streets Department 1994 budget; and WHEREAS, Colorado law and the City Charter authorize governments to enter into contractual agreements with one another for the purpose of cooperating together in joint activities; and WHEREAS, the Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the City that an agreement be entered into with the Colorado Department of Transportation for the installation, operation and maintenance of the weather monitoring equipment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Mayor be, and hereby is, authorized and directed to execute an intergovernmental agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation for and on behalf of the City, which agreement shall provide for the installation, operation and maintenance of weather monitoring equipment on US Highway 287 as part of the new state highway bridge over the Poudre River on North College Avenue, and that the City shall reimburse the State for thirty-three percent (33%) of the total cost of the work, not to exceed a maximum total cost of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000) .
