OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN INTER-GOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENT WITH THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE VERMONT BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN
UNDERPASS PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the citizens of
the City that a bicycle/pedestrian trail be established under the Union Pacific Railroad commencing
in the vicinity of the intersection of Centennial Road and Parklake Drive and continuing to the
intersection of Vermont Drive and Eastbrook Drive (the "Vermont Bicycle/Pedestrian Underpass
Project' or"the Project'); and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the Project would encourage the alternative
modes of pedestrian and bicycle transportation to and from the new Fort Collins High School and
employment and retail centers along Timberline Road; and
WHEREAS,federal funds have been made available to assist in the financial support of the
Project, which funds are to be administered through an intergovernmental agreement with the
Colorado Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the Mayor should execute an inter-
governmental agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation for the funding of the
Project, utilizing federal funds in the sum of Three Hundred Forty-two Thousand Dollars
($342,000.00) and City funds for the remaining Sixty Nine Thousand Dollars ($69,000) of the total
project cost of Four Hundred Eleven Thousand Dollars ($411,000).
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Mayor be, and hereby is, authorized to execute an intergovernmental agreement
with the Colorado Department of Transportation for the construction of the Vermont
Bicycle/Pedestrian Underpass Project for a total cost not to exceed Four Hundred Eleven Thousand
Dollars ($411,000), Three Hundred Forty-two Thousand Dollars ($342,000.00) of which shall be
funded utilizing federal funds through the Colorado Department of Transportation with the
remaining balance of the project,in the sum of Sixty Nine Thousand Dollars ($69,000),to be funded
utilizing City funds.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins held this
5th day of September, A.D. 1995.
