OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A TWO-YEAR
INTER-GOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT
WITH THE POUDRE R-I SCHOOL DISTRICT
TO LEASE A PORTION OF THE OLD FORT COLLINS HIGH SCHOOL
FOR USE AS A YOUTH RECREATION CENTER.
WHEREAS, the City and the Poudre R-I School District ("the School District') have been
discussing possible uses for the Old Fort Collins High School Building; and
WHEREAS, options for the permanent use of the high school building are still being
reviewed and considered by the School District; and-
WHEREAS, the School District is interested in leasing a portion of the high school building
to the City for use as a youth recreation center; and
WHEREAS,the City is interested in leasing approximately 35,000 to 40,000 square feet of
space in the north portion of the high school building, which includes two gymnasiums, locker
rooms, large activity rooms, and classrooms for use as a youth recreation center; and
WHEREAS,the lease would begin in August or September of 1995 and would run through
July of 1997 at a rental rate of $7,500 to $10,000 per month, depending on the amount of space
leased; and
WHEREAS, the City is in need of additional recreation facilities to serve the youth of the
community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes the use of the high school building for a youth
recreation center is an effective and economical way to provide these services to the youth of the
city; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes it is in the best interest of the City to enter into this lease
with the School District.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an inter-governmental agreement
with Poudre R-I School District,whereby the City would lease approximately thirty-five thousand
(35,000)to forty thousand(40,000)square feet of space from the School District in the north portion
of the Old Fort Collins High School, which includes two gymnasiums, locker rooms, large activity
rooms, and classrooms,at a rate of Seven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars($7,500)to Ten Thousand
Dollars ($10,000) per month, beginning in August or September 1995 and ending July 31, 1997, on
such other terms and conditions as may be approved by the City Manager and the City Attorney.
