OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS-
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENT WITH THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF BIKE RACKS ON TRANSFORT BUSES
WHEREAS, the City has made application to the Colorado Department of Transportation
for "enhancement" funding for the placement of bike racks on Transfort buses; and
WHEREAS, the North Front Range Transportation and Air Quality Planning Council has
approved said application; and
WHEREAS, the installation of bike racks on Transfort buses would enhance the concept of
"inter-modal" transportation whereby bicyclists could connect their trips with a transit trip on the
City's bus system; and
WHEREAS, the Colorado Department of Transportation has authorized a Federal Surface
Transportation Program Grant in the sum of Twenty-four Thousand Dollars ($24,000) upon
condition that the City apply its own matching funds in the amount of Six Thousand Dollars($6,000)
for a total project cost of Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000); and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins has determined that it is in the best
interests of the City that an intergovernmental agreement with the Colorado Department of
Transportation be executed for the purchase and installation of bike racks on Transfort buses.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Mayor be, and hereby is, authorized to enter into an intergovernmental agreement
with the Colorado Department of Transportation for the purchase and installation of bike racks on
Transfort buses for a total project cost of Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000),Twenty-four Thousand
Dollars($24,000)of which will be defrayed through a Federal Surface Transportation Program Grant
from the Colorado Department of Transportation, with Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000) of said cost
to be defrayed utilizing City funds.
