OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENT WITH COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY FOR A
HORSETOOTH RESERVOIR BACKGROUND WATER QUALITY STUDY
WHEREAS, activity in and around Horsetooth Reservoir may be impacting the quality of
raw water supplies; and
WHEREAS, microbial growth in Horsetooth Reservoir may impact water treatment
processes; and
WHEREAS, information regarding water quality is essential to maintaining the quality of
water for domestic uses; and
WHEREAS,for the aforesaid reasons,the Council of the City of Fort Collins has determined
that it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City that a Horsetooth Reservoir Background Water
Quality Study be conducted; and
WHEREAS, the cost of said study is $23,200, and said funds are budgeted and available in
the Environmental Services Budget of the Water Fund; and
WHEREAS, Article III, Section 16 of the City Charter provides that the Council may enter
into agreements with other governmental bodies for the performance of cooperative or joint
activities.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1. That the Mayor be, and hereby is, authorized to enter into an intergovernmental
agreement with Colorado State University for the performance of the Horsetooth Reservoir
Background Water Quality Study in consideration of the payment by the City of a sum not to exceed
Twenty-Three Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($23,200).
Section 2. That if the Mayor, deems it to be in the best interest of the City, the agreement
may be extended one(1)additional year and may, in consultations with the Citv Manager,make such
modifications may be made to the agreement as may be necessary to protect the City's interest and
to provide for water quality planning and management.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the Cit of Fort Collin is
16th day of May, A.D. 1995.
