HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-145-12/03/1996-ENHANCED 911 LARIMER EMERGENCY NOMINATING REPRESENTATIVE TELEPHONE AUTHORITY RESOLUTION 96-145 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS NOMINATING A NEW REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE CITY TO THE LARIMER EMERGENCY TELEPHONE AUTHORITY WHEREAS, in the interest of protecting and preserving public safety and welfare, it is desirable that the citizens of the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, be provided with emergency telephone service to aid the timely provision of other emergency services; and WHEREAS, Articles 1 and I 1 of Title 29, C.R.S., authorize the City to contract with other governmental agencies to establish a separate legal entity to provide for the joint exercise of lawfully authorized activities and, in particular, for the administration of the emergency telephone services; and WHEREAS, the Mayor, as authorized by Ordinance No. 164, 1989, entered into an intergovernmental agreement(the"Agreement")with other governing bodies located within Latimer County, Colorado, to create the Larimer Emergency Telephone Authority in order to establish and maintain an emergency telephone service system offering Enhanced 911 capability in the County of Larimer, Colorado; and WHEREAS, the Agreement provides that the City of Fort Collins shall nominate one person to the governing board of the Authority (the "Board") and that the Board of County Commissioners shall appoint the City's nominee to the Board; and WHEREAS, the City's representative to the Board is to act in accordance with Council's direction, if any, pertaining to the establishment of subscriber fees and other issues of significant impact to the citizens of the City of Fort Collins; and WHEREAS, the Council wishes to designate a member of City staff to serve as its representative on the Board. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, that Deputy Chief Deryle O'Dell be, and hereby is, nominated for appointment as a member of the governing Board of the Latimer Emergency Telephone Authority, to serve until such time as the Council shall select a new representative.
