HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-016-02/07/1995-COLORADO GENERAL ASSEMBLY DISTRIBUTION FORMULA HIGHWAY USERS TAX FUND SB 95-47 HB 95-1174 HB 95-1175 RESOLUTION 95-16 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS SUPPORTING THE INCREASE OF TRANSPORTATION FUNDING BY THE COLORADO GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND MAINTAINING THE DISTRIBUTION FORMULA OF 60% STATE, 22% COUNTIES, AND 18% MUNICIPALITIES WHEREAS, building and maintaining an adequate transportation system is critical to the citizens and economic health of the City and the State generally; and WHEREAS, there are millions of dollars of maintenance and construction needs on the existing state, county, and municipal highway and street systems; and WHEREAS,there exist additional financial needs to address capacity demands for highways and streets throughout Colorado; and WHEREAS, these needs are met by a combination of federal, state, and local funds; and WHEREAS, the federal funds being returned to Colorado are decreasing; and WHEREAS,the State Highway Users Tax Fund(HUTF)monies available for highways and streets are growing at slower rates than the growth in vehicle miles traveled(VMT), population, and numbers of registered vehicles. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, that: Section 1. The Fort Collins City Council hereby declares its support for SB 95-47, HB 95- 1174 and HB 95-1175 as means by which the Highway Users Tax Fund monies for transportation can be increased; and Section 2. The present funding formula of 60% State, 22% Counties, and 18% Municipalities should be maintained for any funds released from or newly appropriated to the Highway Users Tax Fund.
