OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND POUDRE SCHOOL DISTRICT R-1
FOR THE PROVISION OF DEVELOPMENT-RELATED LIAISON SERVICES
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 29-1-203, C.R.S. , and Article II, Section 16,
of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins, the City may cooperate or contract
with other governmental entities to provide governmental services and make
charges for such services; and
WHEREAS, continued growth in the Fort Collins area suggests that increased
coordination between the City and the Poudre School District R-1 ("the School
District") can result in better fiscal and physical management for the both the
City and the School District; and
WHEREAS, the City and the School District, in a spirit of cooperation, have
recently executed an agreement which provides for increased collaboration between
the parties regarding the planning and construction of schools and the
acquisition of land therefor and other related topics; and
WHEREAS, in order to further enhance the cooperation between the City and
the School District with regard to these matters, the Council believes that it
would be in the best interests of the community if the City were to provide a
member of its staff to serve as a development liaison between the City and the
School District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the Mayor be, and hereby is, authorized to execute an intergovernmental
agreement between the City and the School District for the provision of
development liaison services, which agreement shall include, without limitation,
the following terms and conditions:
1 . That the City shall appoint a senior member of its staff to
serve as a liaison ("the Liaison") between the City and the
School District to assist the School District in obtaining
timely City review of any proposed land use project of the
School District which is subject to City review.
2. That in exchange for the services described above, the School
District will reimburse the City for one-half (1/2) of the
total compensation costs incurred by the City in providing
such services.
3. That in rendering services to the School District under this
agreement, the Liaison shall remain an employee of the City,
and the delivery of such services to the School District shall
be considered to be within the scope of the performance of the
Liaison's duties for and employment by the City.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort
Collins held this 2nd day of February, A.D. 1993.
