01 THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT 'COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THREE INTERGOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENTS WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
ALLOCATING $185,000 OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS FOR
UNANTICIPATED REVENUE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THREE TRAFFIC SIGNALS
ON THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the Colorado State Department of Transportation (COOT) has
established three projects for improvements to US Highway 287 programmed for FY
1994 which projects will require the construction of three traffic signals; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins builds, operates, and maintains all the
traffic signals within the Fort Collins urban area; and
WHEREAS, because of the City's experience in constructing traffic signals,
the CDOT has requested that the City of Fort Collins participate in said projects
by serving as the contractor for the construction of the three traffic signals;
and
WHEREAS, the City has submitted to the COOT the initial design and cost
estimates for the signal construction which estimate has been accepted by the
CDOT; and
WHEREAS, the City has estimated that the total cost of the work to be done
is at or below the One Hundred Eighty-Five Thousand Dollars ($185,000) and the
City is prepared to proceed with the project with the understanding that all
costs will be reimbursed by the COOT; and
WHEREAS, funds have been budgeted, appropriated and otherwise made
available in the sum of One Hundred Eighty-Five Thousand ($185,000) for the City
of Fort Collins to construct the three traffic signals; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins does hereby determine that
it is in the best interest of the City that said intergovernmental agreements by
executed between the City and the COOT; and
WHEREAS, Article III, Section 16 of the City Charter provides that the
Council may enter into Agreements with other governmental bodies for performance
of cooperative or joint activities.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the Mayor be, and is hereby authorized to enter into three (3)
intergovernmental agreements between the City of Fort Collins and the Department
of Transportation of the State of Colorado, for the purpose of constructing three
(3) traffic signals, which signals are located at the intersection of US Highway
287 and Vine Drive, State Highway 1, and Shields Street, upon the condition that
One Hundred Eighty-Five Thousand ($185,000) of the said projects costs will be
reimbursed by the State Department of Transportation.
Passed and adopted at the regular meeting of rCouncil hel this
19th day of October, A.D. 1993.
