EXHIBIT A
PUBLIC ACCESS POLICY
The City of Fort Collins government enjoys a reputation as a leader and
innovator. This leadership has made the City a desirable place to live and
work. The challenge of this decade is to preserve that reputation and sustain
fiscal health and responsibility.
Public access to information & services for Fort Collins area residents is a
developing area for the City. This policy is intended to guide the City as it
develops its electronic services.
The City will seize opportunities to use technology to increase public access
to City and community services & information that will improve:
- the cost benefit of providing new or existing services
- the availability of government
- the accessibility of government
- the accountability of government
- public policy development
- make a positive impact on our environment
The City leadership and staff will :
- Collaborate with other local entities seeking to provide
electronic resources and services through partnerships and
facilitative leadership.
- Encourage infrastructure investments in our community.
- Ensure that the responsibility for maintaining information remains
with the information providers.
- Minimize risk by working with stable, proven technology, products,
and companies whenever possible and appropriate.
- Structure our projects and partnerships to be customer and demand
driven, not technology driven.
- Focus our resources on creating, evolving, and maintaining usable
and sustainable electronic assets.
