OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
DIRECTING STAFF TO DEVELOP A COMPREHENSIVE WORK PLAN WHICH WILL ENCOURAGE
AND SUPPORT THE COLLABORATIVE USE OF LIBRARY, MEDIA AND INFORMATION
SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE CITY
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to emphasize the importance of the continued
implementation of the Five-Year Library Plan (the "Plan") ; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins also wishes to expand the
scope of the Plan by adding a component to the Plan which would maximize the
library and information facilities and resources of the community for the benefit
of all residents of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Council also wishes to cooperate with the Poudre R-1 School
District (the "School District") to maximize the joint use of City and School
District resources for the benefit of the Fort Collins community; and
WHEREAS, to accomplish these objectives, the Council wishes to create a plan
that is broad in scope, yet accommodates specific projects and short opportunity
time lines;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the City staff, in consultation with the Library Board, is directed to
develop a comprehensive work plan to:
• implement the remaining components of the Five-Year Library Plan;
• work with the School District to explore the concept of community
learning and information centers;
• utilize the resources and technologies of existing community agencies;
• build flexibility into the City's information systems to better
accommodate new technologies;
• explore the feasibility of joint-use facilities; and
• develop a time frame, with incremental milestones, for implementation of
the comprehensive work plan.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort
Collins held this 20th day of April , A.D. 1993.
