OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A BUILDING PERMIT FOR
THE WOOLWORTH BUILDING/WELCH BLOCK
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 71, 1993, the Council of the City of Fort Collins
designated the Woolworth Building/Welch Block located at 107 North College Avenue
as a historic landmark pursuant to Chapter 14 of the Code of the City of Fort
Collins; and
WHEREAS, Section 14-24 of the Code of the City provides that no building
permit shall be issued for alteration or construction of a site or structure
under consideration for landmark designation from the date of the hearing of the
Landmark Preservation Commission at which a designation is first presented for
consideration until final disposition of the designation by the City Council
unless such alteration or construction is authorized by resolution of the City
Council as necessary for the public health, safety or welfare; and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the issuance of a building permit,
for interior alteration and construction only, is necessary and desirable for the
promotion of the revitalization of an important site in the Fort Collins downtown
area; and
WHEREAS, the Council has accordingly determined that, in the interest of
the promotion of the public welfare, such building permit should be issued.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the Division of Building Permits and Inspections is hereby authorized to
issue a building permit, for interior alteration and construction only, for the
Woolworth Building/Welch Block located upon Lots 1 and 2, and the south ten (10)
feet of Lot 3, in Block 21, Fort Collins, Colorado, according to the plat filed
January 18, 1873.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City o Fort
Collins held this 6th day of July, A.D. 1993. 7 1
