HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-093-06/15/1993-AIR POLLUTION ATMOSPHERIC VISIBILITY MONITOR BROWN CLOUD CLEAN AIR COLORADO IGA STATE OF COLORADO TR RESOLUTION 93-93 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE STATE OF COLORADO FOR THE PURCHASE, INSTALLATION, AND OPERATION OF AN ATMOSPHERIC VISIBILITY MONITOR WHEREAS, the State Department of Health is distributing $30,000 through its Clean Air Colorado (CAC) program to the City of Fort Collins to fund the purchase, installation, and operation of an atmospheric visibility monitor, including a transmissometer; and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins has adopted an Air Quality Policy Plan to govern air quality conditions for the next twenty years; and WHEREAS, an integral part of the Plan pertains to the monitoring and assessment of major sources of air pollution, one being the "Brown Cloud" or smog which reduces visibility; and WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable that as permitted by Article II, Section 16 of the Charter, the City enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the State of Colorado, to enable the City to purchase, install , and operate an atmospheric visibility monitor, including a transmissometer. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Mayor be, and hereby is, authorized to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the State of Colorado for the purpose of providing CAC funds to the City in the sum of Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000) for the purpose of purchasing, installing, and operating an atmospheric visibility monitor, including a transmissometer.
