OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
ESTABLISHING AND APPOINTING A COUNCIL GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins is a home rule municipality governed by
a Charter which was first adopted by the electorate on October 5, 1954; and
WHEREAS, the procedures for amendment of the City's Charter are established
in Section 31-2-210, C.R.S. , pursuant to Article XX, Section 9, of the Colorado
Constitution; and
WHEREAS, according to such statutory procedure, amendments to the City
Charter may be initiated either by a petition of the electorate or by an
ordinance adopted by the City Council ; and
WHEREAS, the Council has, from time to time, submitted proposed amendments
to the City's electorate for approval ; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that it would be in the best of
interests of the City to establish a Council Governance Committee to review the
Charter of the City of Fort Collins and other governance matters on an on-going
basis and to make recommendations to the Council regarding proposed changes to
the City Charter and the adoption of City ordinances related to the governance
process; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to appoint three Councilmembers to serve
on said Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
as follows:
Section 1. That a Council Governance Committee is hereby established for
the purpose of reviewing the Charter of the City of Fort Collins and other
governance matters on an on-going basis and making recommendations to the City
Council regarding proposed amendments to the City Charter and the adoption of
City ordinances related to the governance process.
Section 2. That the following-named Councilmembers are hereby appointed
to serve on the Council Governance Committee until such time as the Council may
decide to make new appointments:
Ann Azari
Bob McCluskey
Bob Winokur
