HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-073-06/01/1993-BURLINGTON NORTHERN RAILROAD COLORADO DEPT TRANSPORTATION IGA MINOR STREET CAPITAL FUND RAILROAD CRO RESOLUTION 93-73 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND THE BURLINGTON NORTHERN RAILROAD FOR THE UPGRADE OF THE RAILROAD CROSSING SIGNALS ON WEST PROSPECT ROAD WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins has determined that the crossing of West Prospect Street and the Burlington Northern Railroad is in need of upgrading for the protection of vehicular and bicycle traffic at said crossing; and WHEREAS, federal funds have been made available to the City through the State of Colorado Department of Transportation for rails/highway crossing protection devices in the amount of $77,722 for the purpose of upgrading the aforesaid railroad crossing on West Prospect Street; and WHEREAS, the City's share of said project is estimated to be $10,636, which sum is available in the City's Minor Street Capital Fund; and WHEREAS, the Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the City that the Mayor enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the State of Colorado Department of Transportation and the Burlington Northern Railroad Company for the upgrade of the railroad crossing signals on West Prospect Road. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the State of Colorado Department of Transportation and the Burlington Northern Railroad Company for the upgrade of the railroad crossing signals on West Prospect Road for a total project cost of Eighty-eight Thousand Three Hundred and Fifty-eight Dollars ($88,358); Seventy-seven Thousand Seven Hundred Twenty-two Dollars ($77,722) of which cost shall be defrayed utilizing federal funds for rails/highway crossing protection devices and Ten Thousand Six Hundred Thirty-six Dollars ($10,636) of which shall be defrayed from funds held in the Minor Street Capital Fund.
