OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
ALLOCATING $106,675 OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
SURFACE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM FUNDS FOR
A BICYCLE STRIPING/SIGNAGE PROJECT
WHEREAS, the State Department of Transportation is responsible for the
administration of Surface Transportation Program ("STP") funds; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Transportation has identified the City's
Bicycle Striping/Signage Project ("the Project") as an eligible project to be
funded utilizing STP funds and has appropriated such funds for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the City has submitted initial design data to the state setting
forth therein preliminary details, information and estimates of the cost of the
Project, which data has been approved by the State of Colorado; and
WHEREAS, the City has estimated that the total Project costs will not
exceed One Hundred Six Thousand Six Hundred Seventy-five Dollars ($106,675) , with
all direct Project costs to be funded through STP funds, and all indirect costs
(estimated to constitute approximately two percent (2%) of the total Project
cost) to be borne by the City; and
WHEREAS, the City is prepared to proceed with the Project with the
understanding that all costs in excess of One Hundred Six Thousand Six Hundred
Seventy-five Dollars ($106,675) shall be borne by the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has also budgeted and appropriated the necessary
funds for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the State of Colorado has presented an intergovernmental agreement
to be entered into between the State Department of Transportation and the City
of Fort Collins for the purpose of accomplishing the Project; and
WHEREAS, Article III, Section 16, of the City Charter provides that the
Council may enter into agreements with other governmental bodies for the
performance of cooperative or joint activities; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins considers it to be in the
best interest of the City that said intergovernmental agreement be executed
between the City and the State Department of Transportation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the Mayor be, and hereby is, authorized to enter into an intergovernmental
agreement between the City of Fort Collins and the State Department of
Transportation of the State of Colorado for a bicycle striping/signage project
known as "STM M455-007" including the "Remington and Mountain Conversion Project"
and the "Bicycle Signage Project," upon the condition that One Hundred Six
Thousand Six Hundred Seventy-five Dollars ($106,675) of the cost of said project
shall be defrayed by utilizing STP funds and that any excess cost shall be borne
by the City.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City o fort
Collins held this 1st day of June, A.D. 1993. j
