OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING NAMING A CITY-OWNED NATURAL
AREA IN HONOR OF CATHY FROMME
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 93-54, the Council of the City of Fort
Collins authorized the purchase of approximately five hundred and seventy-nine
(579) acres of land in the southwest portion of Fort Collins for natural area
purposes; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 92-177, the City Manager was directed to
present for Council consideration an appropriate, City-owned natural area for
open space to be named in honor of former Councilmember Cathy Fromme; and
WHEREAS, it is known to the Council that the late Councilmember Cathy
Fromme lived in a neighborhood near the parcel of land authorized to be purchased
pursuant to Resolution 93-54 and that Councilmember Fromme had, during her term
of office on the Council , been an ardent supporter of the acquisition of open
space lands by the City of Fort Collins for the benefit of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, in honor and recognition of her substantial efforts toward the
acquisition of open space lands for the benefit of the City, the Council has
determined that it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City that the
parcel of land authorized to be acquired by the City pursuant to Resolution 93-54
of the Council be named the "Cathy Fromme Natural Area"; and
WHEREAS, on April 7, 1993, the Natural Resources Advisory Board recommended
to the Council that said parcel of land be so named.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the parcel of land authorized to be acquired by the City of Fort Collins
pursuant to Resolution 93-54 of the Council be named the "Cathy Fromme Natural
Area" in recognition of the efforts exerted by former Councilmember Fromme toward
the acquisition of open space areas by the City of Fort Collins.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort
Collins held this 20th day of April , A.D. 1993.
