OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO
AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH
THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
FOR CONSTRUCTION OF STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS
AT THE INTERSECTION OF COLLEGE AND LAPORTE AVENUES
WHEREAS,the City of Fort Collins' Downtown Streetscape Project(the"Project")has been
selected by the North Front Range Transportation and Air Quality Planning Council to receive
federal Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act("ISTEA") Enhancement funds for 1997;
and
WHEREAS, the Intergovernmental Agreement with the Colorado Department of
Transportation for Project funding provides for the receipt of$35,000 in federal funds,to be matched
by $9,000 in City matching funds, which funds are available in the Transportation Services Fund
for transfer to the Project Fund; and
WHEREAS, the Project will include planning, design, and construction of improvements
such as landscaping and pedestrian enhancements,including medians and lighting,at the intersection
of College Avenue and LaPorte Avenue, and will be included as part of the downtown General
Improvement District Capital Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS,City staff has on this date presented to Council related Ordinance No. 61, 1997,
appropriating unanticipated revenue in the Transportation Services Fund and authorizing the transfer
of appropriations for the construction of the Project; and
WHEREAS, Article II, Section 16 of the City Charter provides that the Council may enter
into agreements with other governmental bodies for the performance of cooperative or joint
activities.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that upon final adoption of Ordinance No. 61, 1997, appropriating and transferring the
related funds, the Mayor be, and hereby is, authorized to execute, on behalf of the City, an
intergovernmental agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation for the provision of
federal grant funds in the amount of$35,000 for the Downtown Streetscape Project.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort Collins held this
