HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-117-10/19/1999-AUTHORIZING AN IGA WITH CDOT FOR THE ANALYSIS AND DETERMINATION OF APPROPRIATE INTERSECTION IMPROVEM RESOLUTION 99-117 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ALLOCATING $1,375,721 FOR THE ANALYSIS AND DETERMINATION OF APPROPRIATE INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID IMPROVEMENTS AT THE INTERSECTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 14 AND LEMAY AVENUE WHEREAS,the Colorado Department of Transportation has prepared and presented to the City an Agreement providing for the analysis and determination of appropriate intersection improvements and the construction of said improvements at the intersection of State Highway 14 and Lemay Avenue (the "Intersection"); and WHEREAS, said proposed Intergovernmental Agreement calls for the sum of$1,375,721 to be expended in furtherance of the foregoing purposes,which sum includes Federal Aid Project funds in the amount of$1,090,000, and City matching funds in amount of$285,721; and WHEREAS, Colorado law and the City Charter authorize governments to enter into contractual agreements with one another for the purpose of cooperating together in joint activities; and WHEREAS, the Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the City that an Agreement be entered into with the State of Colorado for the purpose of analyzing and determining the appropriate improvements at the Intersection and the construction of said improvements. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the Mayor be,and hereby is,authorized to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Fort Collins and the Colorado Department of Transportation,which Agreement shall provide for the analysis and determination of appropriate intersection improvements and the construction of said improvements at the intersection of State Highway 14 and Lemay Avenue at a cost not to exceed $1,375,721, including $285,721 of City matching funds, with any funds not expended for said project to be used for other City projects which meet federal criteria for expenditure.
