NOMINATING CffY CLERK WANDA KRARCEK
FOR TI IE 1996 CLERK OF THE YEAR AWARD
FROM THE COLORADO MUNICIPAL CLERK'S ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS,the Colorado Municipal Clerk's Association is soliciting nominations for 1996
Clerk of the Year, and the Council of the City of Fort Collins would like to express its full and
unqualified support for the nomination of City Clerk Wanda Krajicek for the 1996 Award; and
WHEREAS, City Clerk Krajicek has served the City of Fort Collins since 1975 in positions
ranging from an entry level job in General Administrative Services, to Public Information Clerk in
1976, Deputy City Clerk in 1977, and ultimately as City Clerk beginning in 1980; and
WHEREAS, in her capacity as City Clerk, Wanda Krajicek has continually demonstrated a
unique knowledge of municipal operations and has always exhibited a"can do" attitude in devoting
her energy and skills to City govermnent and to the Fort Collins community; and
WHEREAS,City Clerk Krajicek provides exemplary service to the City Council and the Fort
Collins community in overseeing a myriad of responsibilities and willingly accepting new challenges
and assignments, such as providing key staff support to the Council Governance Committee; and
WHEREAS, City Clerk Krajicek was instrumental in the successful conduct of the City's
first mail ballot election in 1995, which boosted voter tuumout from 17.81% in 1993 to a remarkable
42.07% in 1995; and
WHEREAS, City Clerk Krajicek has also accepted responsibility for the new organization-
wide Electronic Document Management System which will enhance access to public records and
reduce the City's risk to loss of vital records and information; and
WHEREAS, City Clerk Krajicek has also been responsibile for a number of special
assignments during her tenure as City Clerk, including coordination for both the 1986 and 1996
Charter Review Committees; and
WHEREAS, City Clerk Krajicek has been active in the Colorado Municipal Clerk's
Association(CMCA) and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC),demonstrating her
support for the municipal clerk's profession by attending conferences and seminars, participating
on panels at conferences, serving on numerous IIMC and CMCA Conunittees and as Past President
of CMCA, and hosting CMCA"On the Road" Workshops and Northern Colorado municipal clerks
meetings; and
WHEREAS, City Clerk Krajicek earned the Certified Municipal Clerk designation, has
recently reached the Third Sustaining Level in the Advanced Academy of Education of the
International Institute of Municipal Clerks, and has also consistently encouraged the professional
development of her staff and provided support for their active membership in professional
associations and in earning professional certifications; and
WHEREAS, City Clerk Krajicek was the host Clerk for the Region VIII IIMC Conference
in Fort Collins in 1991 and will be the host Clerk for the CMCA/CGFOA Fall Conference in Fort
Collins in 1997; and
WHEREAS,City Clerk Krajicek has twice received an award from CMCA for"Outstanding
Contributions" to the Association.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF TIIE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Council hereby nominates Wanda Krajicek as 1996 Clerk of the Year.
