HomeMy WebLinkAbout013 - 01/11/1919 - RELATING TO THE CLOSING OF STREETS AND ALLEYS BY THE COMMISSIONER OF WORKS DURING THE CONSTRUCTION O ORDINANCE NO 1919, BEING AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE CLOSING OF STREETS AND ALLEYS BY THE COMMISSIONER OF WORKS DURING THE CONSTRUCTION OF PERMANENT IMPROVEMENTS OR WHILE RE- PAIRING THE SAME AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLA- TION THEREOF BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS Section 1 The Commissioner of Public Works of the City of Fort Collins is hereby authorized and empowered to order closed any street , alley or portion thereof when in his judgment it is necessary in order to carry on properly and safely the construction of the public improvements or repairs upon any street , alley or portion thereof and properly safe- guard such improvements from damage or injury until it shall be determined by said officer that such street or alley is in safe condition for traffic, and to prevent the use of such streets and alleys while the work of construction or repairs are in progress to place obstructions across the street or alley, together with a notice to the effect that said street or alley is closed to traffic pursuant to the authority of this ordinance and his order, and any violation of any such order or interference with the obstructions placed in streets or alleys shall be punished as hereinafter provided Section a Any person, company or corporation who shall violate the provisions of this ordinance, or any order of the Commissioner of Works respecting the closing of any street or alley, or in any manner interfere with the obstructions placed across streets or alleys by order of said Commissioner of Works on said closed s''reet or alley, or use or attempt to use such closed street or alley while said order is in effect, and prior to the opening of said street or alley for traffic pursuant to order of the Commissioner of Works upon conviction of such violation shall befined in any sum not less than /4/ dollars nor more than three hundred dollars , and costs of suit Section 3 In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety and this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication, under and in virtue of the authority contained in Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter Introduced, read at length and adopted by the una us vote of all the members of the City Council this _L �day of October, A D 1919 Commissioner o_ Safety and Ex Officio Mayor ATTEST �City Clerk STATE OF COLORADO ) SS COUNTY OF LARIMER ) I A J Rosenow, City Clerk of the City of Fort Collins, do hereoy certify and declare tbat the fore- going ordinance, consisting of three sections, was duly pro- posed and read at length at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the // day of October, A D 1919, and was duly adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins Courier, a daily newspaper , by the unanimous vote of all the members of the City Council, as an emergency ordinance, in accordance with the provisions of Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter , and thereafter and on, towit the 13 day of October, A D 1919, said ordinance No 1 3 was duly published in the Fort Collins Courier, a daily newspaper published in the City of Fort Collins Colorado IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said City this /3 day of October, A D 1919 City Clerk
