HomeMy WebLinkAbout016 - 11/22/1919 - ADOPTING A SCHEDULE OF RATES TO BE CHARGED AND COLLECTED FOR TELEPHONE SERVICE WITHIN THE CORPORATE ORDINANCE NO 1919, ADOPTING A SCHEDULE OF RATES TO BE CHARGED AND COLLECTED FOR TELEPHONE SERVICE WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS BY THE MOUNTAIN STATES TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH COAPANY ON AND AFTER DECEiiBER 1 1919 WHEREAS The schedule of rates now charged and collected by The ,Aountain States Telephone & Telegraoh Company within the corporate limits of the Ci+y of Fort Collins pursuant to the order of the Postmaster General of the United States will cease to be in force and effect December 1, 1919 by operation of law, and WHEREAS Section 4 of Article XVIII of the City Charter ves+s the power and authority in the City Council to fix and regulate by ordinance the costs rentals and charges for service by public utility corporations within the corporate limits of the City, therefore BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS Section 1 That the schedule of rates charged by The Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph Company and in force and effect on the 1st day of April 1919, be and the same is hereby adobted as the schedule of rates which it shall be lawful for The Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph Company to charge and collet` for telephone service within the corporate limits of zhe City of Fort Collins, effective December 1 1919, which schedule of rates is as follows, towit 1 party business 642 oo per year 2 party business 36 oo per year 1 party residence 24 oo per year 2 party residence 21 oo per year Business Extensions 12 oo per year Residence Extensions 6 oo per year Extension Belle 3 oo per year Directory Service Non-Subscriber Business 12 oo per year Extra Listings Business 4 20 per year Residence 4 20 per year Section 2 It shall be unlawful for said Telephone Company to charge any greater rate than provided in Section 1 , and any violation of this pro- vision by said Company as to any rate or charge,upon conviction, shall be fined the sum of Three Hundred Dollars (4300 oo) , and costs of the proceeding Section 3 In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists for the preservation of the public health peace and safety and this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication, under and by virtue of the authority contained in Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter Introduced read at leng+h and adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council this 22nd day of November, A D 1919 l Commissioner o ety an ATTEST Ex Officio Mayor City Clerk STATE OF COLORADO ) SS COUNTY OF LARIMER ) I , A J Rosenow, Citj Clerk of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby certify and declare that the foregoing ordinance consisting of three sections was duly proposed and read at length at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 22nd day of November , A D 1919, and was duly adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins Courier , a daily newspaper, by the unanimous vote of all the members of the City Council, as an emergency ordinance, in accordance with the pro- visions of Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the City Charter, and thereafter and on towit the 2?
